In a far off universe lays a shadow world ruled by god like
creatures. Creatures that grow tired of their dull and desolate realm; thus,
they’ve decided to claim two different worlds as their own. One of a rusted
rundown future filled with super powered beings. Then another where demons and
humans live together, but in a new age of racism and segregation. They are
going to turn these two worlds into their own game arena and then dominate them
completely.
A black hole is soon to be opened that will connect them
all.
Chapter 1.
M.A.L.L.
Katél.
I sighed as I lightly
pushed my front house door back into place, getting a bit more annoyed as I
tried to stomp my foot into my sneakers but the back of the shoe always bends
and gets squished under my heel. After I finally got my whole foot in by
twisting my ankle around a bit and kicking it back against the wall, I jumped
off the front steps and headed off to the right in the direction of the store.
Geez, always at the last minute! I don’t get
why it’s always ME that mom sends out to get damn groceries. She needs to learn
to buy EVERYTHING we need the first time she goes shopping. I complained to
myself in my head, brushing my hair off my shoulder as my eyes scanned the
scenery around me. I always get sidetracked in wonder about everything. Like
what was it like in our world before it had a melt down and we had to build
this gigantic staircase to live in. I mean, our buildings don’t look that different from the pictures I’ve
seen... We just have more sensors, cameras, computers, levels and we’re not as
primitive and scattered as it was back then. Even the people don’t look that
different either. The only differences I could really agree with is their
abilities, eye and hair color and their clothes were just so… Skimpy!
Revealing! I just couldn’t believe someone would actually walk outside in that
as normal clothes wear!
My
mind was still floating around as I stopped in an elevator—right before walking
into the glass wall too – I turned around and pushed the only button there was
and the doors closed as the glass booth jerked a little. I leaned against the
back wall as it started to levitate down slowly. I didn’t really notice
anything until the elevator started to creak and the metal started to moan. Then
as soon as I started to notice rust my head snapped up. “ Shit! “, I cursed and
turned around, pressing my hands and forehead against the glass as I looked
around. “ Dammit, I did go too far while I was spacing out!” I hit my head
against the glass for being so stupid, “ Now I’m in the damn Basement Level...”
I continued under my breath as I stopped and just leaned my forehead again the
glass.
I
didn’t even try to hold back my defeated and aggravated sigh as the elevator
stopped and the doors slid open. “ I guess I could try to find the food here
anyways, they’d be at a cheaper price too”, I muttered to myself as I stepped
out. My eyes slid from left to right as I scanned the area. It was like an
alley deep in the back of some building, it was dark and looked empty with the
sound to match besides the wind. Even though nothing was moving, it still put
me a bit on edge because there could be jumpers at any corner or wall. I sucked in some air and straightened my back
and held my head up, trying to look strong. I clenched my fists and started to
walk out, I wasn’t going to let on any feeling of misplacement or fear.
I
quickened my pace when I started to hear the faint sounds of engines and motors
running, cars honking and people conversing. I wanted to hurry and get out of
the alley so then I wasn’t surrounded by so much unknown. Soon the light of the
sun finally gleamed down on me from the space in between the buildings. Out of
impulse I raised up my hand out above my eyes to shadow them from the light. It
never does help that I have glasses; they always make things so much brighter.
I just stood there for a quick moment before I turned to the right and kept
walking. I had already seen a group of skaters hanging out over on the other
side of the street to the right out of the corner of my eye; and I did NOT want
to pass a glance over them out of the fear of making accidental eye contact
with any of them. The sun was at my back now so I let my hand back down to hang
by my side.
I
was darting back and forth, trying to find some sign of a grocery store, but
there was nothing! There wasn’t even a directory of the area anywhere! I stopped and clamped my hand over my forehead
and rubbed my temples with my thumb and middle finger. I swore at myself, “ God
dammit, this is such a waste of time! I should have just headed back at the
beginning and went to our Ground Level store.“, I sighed and continued, “
Alright, let’s just go. I think I can just go this way—“ I stopped as I heard
laughing and unintelligible words followed by shushing. I quickly glanced at
the ground and saw their dark silhouettes crawling up further. A cold chill
went through and down my shoulders and spine, I could feel my heart beat a bit
harder as the pulses traveled slightly up my throat and to the sides of my
jawline. ‘Are they following me?’ I thought as I shook the chill off and
awkwardly continued to walk forward from my foot that was actually turned to
the side when I was going to turn around instead. I was paranoid and didn’t want
to take the chance in finding out.
I
had been walking for a couple minutes with them still trailing behind me before
I came up with an idea. We had passed a building, a red brick one with a random
strip of wood running down the middle that you could walk all the way around.
So I just have to cross the street and walk around that building, then when I’m
at the last turn that leads back to this street, I’ll run and lose them!
I
stopped to look up and down the street, and of course they just stopped, that
just proved that they are following me. Realizing this, I walked across the
street faster than I should’ve, I know it because I heard them snicker at it as
they sped up their pace after me as well.
